The enclosed link is to a Scottish Article which will be of interest to all Midwives.  The UK’s highest court is to determine  whether midwives have a right to refuse to take any part in abortion procedures on moral grounds.  “This landmark case tests the balance between those whose religious beliefs do not allow them to play any part whatsoever in abortion, and the health authorities’ duty under the law to enable women to have an abortion”. The case  is also challenging whether the Midwives workplace could  also  require them to delegate, supervise and support staff who were involved in carrying out abortions.

This story does provide food for thought and no doubt if discussed at work  may create the initiation of  strong debate with your work peers!.
