Currently it is a common occurrence for potential clients to present to your service, facility or office or may contact you via other internal processes with the expectation that an assessment process will be undertaken. The intent of the My Aged Care is that it will provide a centralised entry point and assessment for both community care and residential care clients. All older members of the community will commence their introduction to aged care via My Aged Care whose role it will be to screen potential clients/consumers, identify their needs and refer them directly to a service provider and/or to My Aged care regional assessment organisation for assessment of a home care package; residential care placement an/or respite care.
Once assessments are completed, the regional assessment organisation will, in consultation with the client/consumer, refer to either the client’s preferred provider or to a number of providers based on the details within the My Aged Care website. We understand that a client/consumer can also be provided with a letter to give to their chosen RACF (if they are uncertain as to their preferences).
Service Providers need to consider their PR and marketing strategies to ensure that sufficient information is available to potential clients/consumers to make informed choices.
